My mother studied Christian Science as a young woman and...
My mother studied Christian Science as a young woman and read the Bible Lessons from the Christian Science Quarterly to my sister and me. But we lived too far from a Science church to attend services. Later on, as a teenager, I joined the church of another Christian denomination. It was not until after I was married and had a family that I turned again to Science.
When our girls were in their early teens, my husband passed on. In our need, I turned to God with my whole heart, and soon I began to attend a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, and the girls, a Christian Science Sunday School. With three teenage girls, and not always being employed, I learned to turn to God as our true source of supply on a constant basis.
It was during this time that I had a beautiful healing. I went out to mow the yard one afternoon, and as I was starting the mower, without thinking I pulled it back over my foot. The blade went through my shoe and into my foot. I immediately recalled this powerful statement from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection."
