"I go praise the living God"

A young fellow wrote to tell us about his first healing in Christian Science. He finished his account with the words "I go praise the living God." His joyful affirmation of God's healing power reminded me of similar responses we read in the Bible from people who were healed by Christ Jesus.

For instance, we read in Luke's Gospel of a woman who had suffered from a debilitating disease for eighteen years. When Jesus saw her he said, "Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity." He healed her and she "glorified God." At another time Jesus healed a man of blindness. Luke tells us, "Immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God."

The Science of Christianity that Jesus and his disciples practiced centuries ago is just as efficacious today to free from sickness and hurt. Thousands are turning to God in prayer and feeling the power of His Christ, lifting them to a higher realization that God, Spirit, is the Life of man, as the Scriptures tell us. This growing understanding of man's true identity as wholly spiritual and Godlike has a healing effect.
