INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE
People sometimes feel threatened by technology. It may seem hard to keep up with all the new gadgets and inventions that flood the market. But do we really need to feel overwhelmed by scientific advances? This issue of the Sentinel provides reassurance that we don't.
In an interview entitled "Computers, Science, and prayer," an advanced-research computer expert tells how her study of Christian Science gives her an enlarged perspective on her work. For her, the words Christianity and Science have new meaning. She explains: "I think we come back to Principle here. ... Whatever you're working with, you can turn to God to see the logic of ideas, ... in a broader scientific and spiritual sense."
Mary Baker Eddy, the founder of this magazine, describes Christ Jesus as "the most scientific man that ever trod the globe." She writes in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, "He plunged beneath the material surface of things, and found the spiritual cause." The Master's understanding of divine causation empowered him to heal the sick. This issue shows how Jesus' Christianly scientific teaching is still practical to guide mankind's spiritual progress safely today.
