I feel it might be helpful at this time to share some of my experiences during the Second World War. The nearly five years that my husband was in military service were growing times for me but never distressful or stressful. I held him in God's tender, loving care.
One especially helpful thought was knowing that my happiness was not in the future or in the past but in the eternal now. I was able to be happy, as were our two small daughters, one of whom was born during his absence. My husband and I never wrote homesick letters to each other, nor was there an adjustment period when he came home. It was as if he had been gone for a day. This promise in Exodus, "Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared," has been very helpful during the Second World War and in all the years since.
I am very grateful for physical healings I have had through the study and practice of Christian Science. About twenty years ago I had the symptoms of shingles. I prayed and diligently studied the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. I also asked for help through prayer from a Christian Science practitioner. When faced with pain and a breaking out on my body, I continued my prayer, confident of God's healing power. The breaking out and the pain started to recede right away. The complete healing took place in a short time, and I have not been troubled with this condition again.
