Christian Science: human reasoning or spiritual understanding?

Human reasoning often leads us astray, but spiritual understanding can always be relied on.

My first acquaintance with Christian Science came when I was a child. My family were not students of this Science, but my mother had some friends who were. Through this friendship she decided to send my brother and me to the Sunday School. I attended on and off until I graduated from high school. This association with Christian Science during my "growing-up years" made an impression on me, but I did not continue with Science.

When I found myself on my own for the first time, married and living in another part of the country far away from relatives and familiar surroundings, I turned to Christian Science and began to study it earnestly. Discovering anew that God is Mind and man is His image and likeness, I gradually began to understand that because of this spiritual relationship, man's real consciousness reflects this divine Mind. As my study of the Bible and of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy continued, I also learned to watch my thinking to be sure that it increasingly reflected more of the Truth and Love that are God.

Through prayer I applied spiritual truths to whatever challenges arose in our family's daily life. Sickness was healed.
