My mother has been a Christian Scientist since she was a child, and I have attended a Christian Science Sunday School since I was a young child. In Sunday School we learn the Ten Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, and Christ Jesus' Sermon on the Mount.

When I was seven, I often had a runny or stuffy nose. My father is not a Christian Scientist and he asked my mother to take me to a doctor. The doctor gave me tests to see if I had any allergies. The tests indicated that I was allergic to milk. At first I didn't have milk or anything which was made with milk for a month. Then I was to have milk no more frequently than every four days.

After a while, my nose was either runny or stuffy again. My father said that I had to go back to the doctor. So my mother made an appointment. The appointment was for more than a month away. My mother said that this was our opportunity to prove that Christian Science heals. I said that I certainly wanted to be healed. My mother told me to turn to God in prayer as I had learned to do and said that she would pray also. She was sure I could be healed of the allergy.
