For anyone who doubts, I am living proof that Christian Science permanently heals eyesight difficulties. At an early age, I began to see double and to have headaches while reading for any lengthy period. I was sent to an eye doctor who diagnosed me as farsighted, with one eye that was weaker than the other and had a tendency to cross.

I took medicated eyedrops and wore an eye patch. Later, I was told I'd always have to wear glasses for heavy eye work. I never felt that outcome was just, but when I tried to read or watch television without glasses, headaches would ensue. I used glasses, including bifocals, for twenty years.

Healing came in 1984 after I'd become a student of Christian Science. During a period of considerable spiritual study, one day I gained an inspired sense of the infinite possibilities of God and man. That night, as I prepared to study further, I couldn't find my glasses and this awakened me to see the need for a better understanding of the nature of sight. I pondered the spiritual meaning of eyes given in the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: "Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental." After looking up discernment in the dictionary, I saw clearly that since my study of Christian Science was improving my spiritual discernment, it must also improve my sight!
