Christian Science came to the attention of my parents in a time of extreme need. My baby sister was suffering from eczema. Her body was covered with medication, and she was bandaged from head to foot. She had become very thin because she was unable to retain food. The doctor's final word was that nothing more could be done for her.

My father stopped in to see his sister soon after hearing this and told her about the baby. This sister was an avid reader and was reading Science and Health. She told my father about the book and said that Mrs. Eddy, who had written the book, had established a Church where healing was done through prayer. She suggested he try Christian Science.

When my father arrived home, he told my mother about this religion. My parents were religious people, and my mother said she would try anything to help her baby. The next day she visited a Christian Science practitioner. Although she didn't grasp the full impact of the spiritual truths that were spoken, her confidence in God's healing power was so great she decided to rely wholly upon God. All medication was stopped, and the practitioner prayed for the baby. Within a short time the baby was retaining food, the sores had disappeared, and she was completely healed. This condition never returned.
