A welcome link with The Mother Church
Few things are more reassuring than the sound of a familiar voice when we're far from home. As our prayers for the war in the Middle East continue, The Mother Church has undertaken a project that is bringing The World Service of The Christian Science Monitor and Christian Science shortwave religious programming to men and women on the front line. Our Church is sending shortwave radios to Christian Scientists in uniform in the Persian Gulf. This is one indication of how members of The Mother Church all over the world are embracing in their prayers those serving in the Middle East.
We've heard from Christian Scientists on active duty in that area who have found these broadcasts helpful not only to themselves but to fellow service personnel. For instance, while a man in uniform was listening to the Sunday service broadcast from The Mother Church on shortwave, he was joined by a whole group of people who were also drinking in the healing message.
It's clear that the spiritual light expressed in our work to bless humanity knows no bounds, and this project is a practical, caring illustration of that fact.
