The following healing came about solely through the prayerful reading of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

The Second World War was over. I personally had come through it pretty well, but loss of family members and expulsion from my homeland weighed heavily on me. I had to start a new life. I was plagued with depression; I often pondered God and the meaning of life, but I didn't find any answer. Then I began to suffer from a chronic liver disease.

A good internist was recommended, who went to great lengths to keep me functioning properly. In addition to having to maintain a strict diet, I was constantly being given shots. This went on for more than four years. One night I prayed to God. I just felt that things couldn't go on like that all my life. A short time afterward I saw a poster advertising a Christian Science lecture. I went, and on my way home I knew that I had found what I had been looking for. I obtained a printed copy of the lecture and purchased Science and Health right away.
