INSIDE: LOOKING INTO THIS ISSUE

Calendars are funny things. They block life into time slots of days and months that quickly run out. At the end of the year we say, "Here's a new year, time for a fresh start." But do we really have to wait for a special time to start anew? While a mortal sense of finite existence tends to settle into routine, an awakening to spiritual reality can come at any time.

An editorial in this issue, for example, tells how a young man found healing as he read a Sentinel. He wrote, "When I was reading it, there was fresh air coming in through the window." The practical healing truth of man's being the spiritual expression of God often does seem as though someone opened the window and let in fresh air. It brings new hope to the human heart. Every time the sheer reality of God, Spirit, breaks through to us, we feel full of life, renewed.

This freshness that Spirit brings can be felt at home, in the workplace, and in our churches, as we make renewed efforts to acknowledge God's presence and allness. Christian Science recommends to us all a new starting point—the beginning that Christ Jesus urged for all who would follow him. This acceptance of God's total government and goodness brings new ances that life and time aren't running out—and new joy that we can meet the challenges of a new year because we have "God with us."
