I was told by a college counselor that I was "not college material" after my record from high school was reviewed. This was very discouraging to me because completing a college education had been an important goal for me.
I spent a lot of time in prayer about this, and with the prayerful support of a Christian Science practitioner I realized that being below normal mentally is only a false belief about man. Man has to be seen in his true selfhood as God's child, manifesting divine intelligence, which is never less than perfect. The counterfeit of divine intelligence is the material belief of limited human intelligence. To break this lie, intelligence has to be recognized as infinite, having its source in God.
Holding to this spiritual truth removed personal limitation. I enrolled at a nearby college and began by taking two evening classes in addition to working a full-time job. As the years passed I continued insisting that, in truth, since I am a child of God, I can manifest divine intelligence because I am the expression of divine Mind. I had to learn not to admit impairment of any kind.
