While I was growing up, my parents enrolled me as a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School where I learned that God loved me and that I could always turn to Him. This foundation of trust in God has been very helpful. During my childhood my parents were always there to love and care for me. And when I married, my husband provided so much love that I took a great deal for granted. I leaned heavily on human care and love.
There was plenty to keep me busy as our children came along. And although I attended a branch church and enrolled the children in the Sunday School, too often, when the service was over, I left my Father-Mother God at the church door, so to speak. I was accepting God's love without really returning it with obedience and gratitude.
