Finding our way through deep waters
When troubles seem to overwhelm us, God will always lead us to higher ground.
Deep waters. We all go through them at one time or another—those experiences that threaten to submerge or even drown us with their fury or woe. It may be waves of sickness or misfortune, or maybe an ocean of sorrows. But whatever the nature of the deep waters we find ourselves going through, usually our soul yearns for one thing above all—for an end to the suffering.
Here Christian Science holds out hope, like a hand held out to someone drowning. "Hold tight," it says. "I'll save you!" God's law is always present to free us from pain or loss, to lift us up and out of the waves, above the storm and darkness, to a calm place on the rock of Truth, warmed by the sun of Love.
It doesn't matter if our understanding of divine Science is slight or if we haven't been living in accord with it as fully as we know we should. At any point, when we turn unreservedly to God for help, when we are ready at last to listen to and follow His direction, we find Truth right at hand and powerful to defeat our troubles. All that is asked of us is that we be faithful now in putting into practice what we know to be true and that we be willing to grow.
