Why the lottery isn't for me!
If you won the jackpot, what good could it do for you that God can't do?
For me, not playing the lottery is really a question of an attitude toward money.
Winning the sweepstakes usually means the winner doesn't have to work for the rest of his or her life. Presumably there'd be enough money to meet any possible need. At least that's the way my state slickly promotes its lottery. Money is automatically equated with all that's good.
But when friends ask why I don't play the lottery, I find it difficult to give a short, simple answer. Rather than preach against the evils of gambling, I try to answer from my own understanding of God and of what His nature means to me.
