When I was three years old I was taken ill with diabetes, and the doctors gave me only a very short time to live. Then my grandmother became acquainted with Christian Science and asked a Christian Scientist to pray for me. Within three months I was healed. I then started attending a Christian Science Sunday School, until Science became prohibited in the country where I was living.

Many years later, on the occasion of a compulsory physical examination for employment as a teacher, I had to go to a specialist because of this earlier disease and submit to special tests. All of the tests came out negative, thus providing confirmation of the healing. The doctor said, with great astonishment, "You don't have any physical troubles!"

I'm very grateful for this healing—for the fact that I am alive and can be a witness to God's power, which bursts the bonds of human material conceptions. I'm also grateful that my grandmother had the courage to question the disheartening medical circumstances and entrust me to the arms of divine Love, which healed me.
