I was not a Christian Scientist at the time my husband abandoned...
I was not a Christian Scientist at the time my husband abandoned me with a young child. I have always been a religious person, however, and because a Christian Science church was the nearest church, I enrolled my son in Sunday School there and I began attending Sunday services.
As time passed, my health deteriorated, and I found myself going from one doctor to another with no relief. Finally I was told that surgery was the only answer. One of the patrons of the beauty shop I then ran was a member of the branch church I'd been attending. When she heard that I was disturbed about the operation, she brought me a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and recommended that I postpone the operation for just one week while I studied this book. It was a difficult decision to make, but I called the doctor and put off the surgery.
I began to read Science and Health every spare minute, sometimes with tears running down my cheeks because what I was reading was so inspirational and meant so much to me. In about six months I was completely well. That was sixty years ago, and there has been no return of the difficulty.
