Truth that overcomes lies

It's sometimes argued that one little lie can't do much harm. But think how much even a small expression of Truth can do.

[Original in Spanish]

When a friend of mine was a young boy, he liked to show off to his well-placed friends. Once he went to a dance with a group of friends, carrying his father's overcoat, which he couldn't wear because it was too big. He had money in one pocket, but when he was going to pay for a snack, he found that the money had disappeared. He explained to his friends what had happened, only instead of telling the truth and saying that he was carrying two dollars, he said that he had had six.

Later two dollars were found on the floor of the coatroom, but he wasn't able to claim them, because he had spoken of six dollars and not two. The lie hadn't hurt anyone but himself; and he had received a really good lesson.
