Inspiration is not something we can be deprived of—not if we're willing to study and pray.
AT a time when I was beginning to look deeply into Christian Science, discovering that this Science of good is understandable and practical, I hit a snag.
My snag was not wanting to read, much less study, the Bible Lesson-Sermon. From the Christian Science Quarterly. For several weeks it seemed that I just did not have the desire to pick up either the Bible or Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. It was not as if time were not available; it was. I simply could not get myself to read. As new as I was to this metaphysical study, I knew that this resistance to joyful spiritual discovery was not right and had to be broken. But how?
Because the Bible was a loved friend, one day I picked it up and went out to the shore. I sat for several hours just holding the book. I did not open it. Finally a thought came to read the Sermon on the Mount since it was a favorite of mine.
