I am most grateful for having grown up with Christian Science...
I am most grateful for having grown up with Christian Science as a way of life in our family. We relied on Science to meet all our needs, and I have witnessed many proofs of God's care as a child and throughout my life
A few years ago my husband and I took steps to adopt an infant. During that period my prayers embraced all of God's children. There was a glorious acknowledgment of God's universal family, each of us, in reality, the perfect spiritual reflection of the one Parent, Mind. Every time a child available for adoption came to our attention, however, for one reason or another the child wasn't placed with us. Yet I continued to uplift my concept of family.
Finally we ended up with a newborn, only to have the natural mother take her back the next day. When this happened, I called a Christian Science practitioner who had been helping us through prayer. I told him that I guessed we just weren't meant to have children. The alert practitioner encouraged me not to give in to such fatalism, pointing out that my love of family was "not up for grabs" or subject to chance. This statement awakened me to claim that God, Mind, controls and governs His universal family.
