"Count your many blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord hath done."
I had been stricken with a respiratory ailment and was bedridden one Sunday morning when the Salvation Army band came around the corner of the house where we were living, playing this wonderful old hymn. My mother and dad, brothers and sisters, had been reluctant to leave me alone to attend the Christian Science church Service that morning, but I had assured them I would be fine. I spent the morning praying and expressing gratitude. Upon their return I was coming down the stairs in our home, dressed and completely healed.
A Christian Scientist friend of the family staying with us had been part of the group returning from the service that morning, and I recall that he began to dance around our front hall when he saw me well. This happy scene is one of many that stand out in my mind as I reflect on the grand support our family received through relying on Christian Science for healing.
