On a particular Friday afternoon, most of the children in our block of flats were playing outside. My daughter, who was riding a bicycle, was pushed down by one of the boys. She fell, hitting her bottom hard on the concrete sidewalk. She was in great pain. I was not at home at the time, but she was helped upstairs to our flat by an older brother of the boy who had pushed her down.
On getting home from work later that evening, I noticed she was in pain. She and her sisters told me what had happened that afternoon. I spent time in prayer that night, knowing that man is one with God, his heavenly Father. I knew, too, that this child could not be outside of God's care or love; I knew that God keeps all His creation, including this girl, perfect. From Friday night to Saturday night the girl continued to experience discomfort. Also there was some swelling. On Sunday morning I had to bathe her myself as we all prepared to go to church. A little later the child showed me that her clothes were stained. She was bleeding, though she was not in pain.
The citations from the Bible for that week's Bible Lesson included the story of the woman with the issue of blood. I was full of gratitude for the healing of this woman. I knew that I, too, must reach out in thought to touch the Christ, Truth, and know my child as God knows her.
