One Friday evening about twenty years ago I came home...
One Friday evening about twenty years ago I came home from work feeling that all I wanted to do was crawl into bed and stay there. A number of influenza symptoms were evident. By Sunday I felt very weak and was taking only liquids. I had called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help. Her loving support encouraged me to press on and trust Truth completely.
That night my throat was very painful, and it was difficult to swallow. With all the strength I could muster, I reached for my Bible next to me on the bed and opened it to the ninety-first Psalm. This verse—"He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust"—helped me to feel God's gentle love and care for me right then and there.
Accepting this spiritual truth, I declared with clear conviction, "No matter what happens, nothing can ever change divine Love!" The inflammation in the throat began to abate. The light of Truth had dawned in consciousness, dispelling fear. I slept peacefully throughout the night, and in the morning I woke healed! Since then I have never had a strep throat, although I had suffered from them for many winters before then. My gratitude for Christian Science is unbounded.
