In my mid-teens, I became very ill

In my mid-teens, I became very ill. There was much weakness and great difficulty breathing, plus congestion. I was out of school for over two weeks.

My father, who is not a student of Christian Science, had a doctor come. The doctor diagnosed the condition as severe asthma. He had me take medicine, which did not relieve me.

My father then agreed that I could call a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help, with the stipulation that if the trouble did not yield readily, further medical attention would be sought.
