One day a group of friends and I went horseriding for the day

One day a group of friends and I went horseriding for the day. All my friends were experienced riders, whereas I hadn't been horseriding for many years. On our way home, my horse suddenly bolted. I lost my grip on the horse's mane and fell off, hitting my head.

My parents came to fetch me, and the next thing I knew I was at home in bed. My friend's mother (a medical nurse), told my parents that I would need stitches. But I decided to rely on Christian Science for the healing instead.

My mom telephoned my Sunday School teacher (who is also a Christian Science practitioner) to ask for some helpful thoughts to hold to. He said he would pray for me, and he referred us to hymns in the Christian Science Hymnal (Nos. 134 and 136) and this passage in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 283): "Mind is the source of all movement, and there is no inertia to retard or check its perpetual and harmonious action."
