I First learned about Christian Science many years ago when it was brought to my attention by a customer of the firm where I was employed. This dear gentleman was so dynamic, yet serene and always happy. The story he told me was very moving. He said he had been advised he had only six months to live but he had been completely healed through Christian Science. Then he added with a beautiful smile that lighted up his whole countenance, "And that was sixteen years ago." I was so impressed with this gentleman and his wonderful healing that I decided to learn more about Christian Science.
I proceeded to read Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and I felt such inner peace at the beauty and logic of Christian Science. How impressed I was that God did not create both good and evil and that man is not a combination of matter and spirit (as many religions and philosophies teach). I learned that God is perfect Principle and infinite Love, and that the real man, created in His image and likeness, reflects and expresses only perfect, spiritual qualities. What a revelation to me! I did not study this Science further at that point, but the seed had been planted.
From early childhood and into my adulthood I had suffered greatly with allergies and terrible sinus infections. These attacks precipitated extremely painful headaches. I regularly used antihistamine and decongestant medications, vaporizers, nose drips and sprays, and had even had surgery performed on my nose to help my breathing. All these efforts were to no avail, and I was told by the medical profession (well-meaning as they were) that this was something I just had to learn to live with because the condition was chronic.
