My earliest experience with the teachings of Christian Science came through the Sentinel. At that time, as a new high-school teacher, I used to have very bad headaches, for which I was taking medication. Soon I discovered that when I read the Sentinels that a friend was giving me, my headaches disappeared. Many situations were healed when I applied the truths of Christian Science that I was reading. Very soon I discarded all my medications. That was over fifteen years ago; and since that time I have relied on God as taught in Christian Science for health and comfort.

I was completely healed through Christian Science of cigarette smoking, and this healing has been permanent. Since then I have had many healings directly attributable to the study of Science and the understanding that it gives of God and His perfect, spiritual expression, man. Two of these healings have been cause for much gratitude for the clear evidence they have provided me of God's tangible care for us.

One time I was traveling by car when I became quite ill, apparently from something I had eaten. The extent of the illness was such that I could barely speak, and I felt I was losing consciousness. At my request, my traveling companion called a Christian Science practitioner, who agreed to pray for me. Almost immediately most of the symptoms subsided, and I was able to talk with the practitioner myself. She quoted to me part of a sentence from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy; and as I grasped the truth of the words, I suddenly was fine. This healing was so complete that there was no period of recuperation.
