It was a lovely Saturday morning, and as usual I was out on a bicycle ride. I was within a few miles of home when I had a "run-in" with a car. I was going about eighteen miles per hour when a car turned across my path. I hit the car and flew over it. As I picked myself up from the spill, many of the spiritual truths I had learned in my study of Christian Science flooded consciousness. I remained quite calm and assured those that had gathered around me that I was all right.
When I got home I called a Christian Science practitioner. She said she would pray for me, and she gave me these two sentences on page 473 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy to work with: "The God-principle is omnipresent and omnipotent. God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power."
