Many years ago Christian Science came into my life at a time when my small son was suffering attacks of epilepsy. We were staying on a farm, and whenever the attacks came, I rushed my child to the doctor. The doctor did his best, but whenever I asked him if the sickness could be cured, he didn't respond.
A good friend, who was a Christian Science practitioner, talked to me of Christian Science, and those talks gave me the peace and comfort I had been longing for. I asked her to help me, and she lovingly prayed for us. She encouraged me to realize that the help we needed was not far-off but that God is always where we are. Thus I learned to trust solely in God.
From that time on, whenever the first symptoms of epilepsy appeared, I prayed to God, knowing that only the activity of divine Love was present. A recognition of the omnipresence of God's love gave me confidence and an inner stillness. After I had stood fast twice when the symptoms of illness appeared, the child was healed. Fear had been cast out. What a blessing!
