Two summers ago one of my sons had a persistent cough
Two summers ago one of my sons had a persistent cough. In addition to praying for him, I found myself thinking about some of my physical healings through relying on God. Pretty soon I had written out two full pages of healings in our family, and I was so grateful for God's power to heal. Shortly after this, the child was entirely freed of the cough.
A healing of mine I would like to share occurred during high school. I was helping my dad repair a wooden bridge when unfortunately the bridge fell, pinning my right thumb. The pain was intense, and I remember a feeling of shock and disbelief, coupled with a terrible dread that I might lose a finger. However, while my dad hurriedly worked to free my thumb, he said, "It never happened; it's all right."
I knew he was referring to this absolute statement of spiritual truth in Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, which affirms (p. 424), "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony."
