Freedom from personal influences
My substantial loss in the stock transaction proved a blessing in disguise.
My substantial loss in this transaction proved a blessing in disguise. It both alerted and cautioned me to be more discerning regarding who or what I was allowing to influence me. I knew that my friend's comments had been meant to be helpful, but by blindly following his personal opinions, I had opened the door to disappointment. One of the most important things I learned was the importance of taking responsibility for my own thought and action; and that turned me more trustingly to God to examine what I held as dear and trustworthy. This spiritual self-examination has strengthened my relations with others ever since.
