Hiddekel
"Hiddekel (river). Divine Science understood and acknowledged." (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, p. 588.)
With mountains by humility brought low
we wake to Life's meadows bathed in glow
of Truth's healing, ever-radiant morning.
Safe, now, past conjectural suborning,
we taste anew of Hiddekel's clear flow.
River of buoyant activity sings
forth fresh knowings of our King,
brings new adorings, prayers to see
His likeness and none else, to be
aware of divine Love's encompassing.
Deep draughts of serenity banish seas
of fear, quench subtle arid pleas,
dissolve with patience clogs of mortal tense
and nullify the rocketflares of painful sense,
purging all bitter dregs and lees.
The living waters of our Master's days
and ours, in golden-threaded ways
of Spirit's leading, show Life's unfolding
of experience in God's gentle molding
as dancing light on yielding shadow plays.
