The study of Christian Science has been of great value to me...
The study of Christian Science has been of great value to me, and I have had lovely healings through relying on God.
At the beginning of the Second World War, I was settled in north Germany and regularly attending the services of a Christian Science Society. I had been interviewed by the police for war work in a local factory and had been asked to turn in my American passport. I decided to leave Germany, and I am deeply grateful for the divine guidance and provision already evident to me at that time.
I was on the last passenger train preceding the diplomatic one and was permitted to take only ten marks with me. When I reached Amsterdam, I located a Christian Science Reading Room. The librarian welcomed me warmly.
