My family and I have been blessed for many years by the study of Christian Science. Since the publication of my last testimony in the Sentinel in 1973, I have had many more occasions to be grateful for the power of God to heal and to protect.
Over a year ago I woke one morning with considerable pain in my leg. Besides working with the current Bible Lesson outlined in the Christian Science Quarterly, I prayed to understand that my true being was at one with God and that it could include no pain. I also worked with the description of man found on page 475 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. This passage tells us that man is spiritual idea and is not made up of matter.
I proceeded to go to work as usual; but although my movements were not impeded to any great degree, the pain continued. I called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful help. Her calm assurance that divine Love was in control was a strong support. This statement from Science and Health was also a great help (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,—neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints."
