The tenth leper
Gratitude to God is a natural response after you've been healed. But have you considered expressing gratitude before you are healed?
Imagine standing alongside a dusty road in the Middle East two thousand years ago. With you are nine others. You have come this way because you have heard of a man who can work miracles. Since the conventions of society segregate you from all except those like you, you stand to the side of the road. You and your companions are lepers.
More than anything, you want to believe that this man who is coming can heal you. Suddenly he appears. Your group cries out to this prophet, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." You are filled with hope, for you have heard of the healings of others.
The prophet responds and tells you all to go show yourselves to the priests for examination and ritual cleansing. Filled with hope, your group sets off, and along the way, you are all healed.
