Throughout the years (well over forty-five) that our family has studied and practiced Christian Science, we have had many proofs of God's love and healing power.

One such proof occurred about twelve years ago. I had become severely ill. I could neither lie down nor stand, because I was in such pain. So my family fixed up a contour chair for me. The pain was throughout my body and was intense. The only sleep I had was for a few moments now and then, and I was unable to take solid food for more than a week.

These words from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy had never had more meaning for me (p. vii): "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." I felt that I must lean and was leaning only on God. A Christian Science practitioner, though in another city, stayed close by me in prayer throughout this time.
