A home that is large enough
"Home is the dearest spot on earth, and it should be the centre, though not the boundary, of the affections," Science and Health, p. 58. writes Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health. This description appealed to me when, several years ago, our family needed a larger house and, as I believed, a better concept of home. In considering this project, our family began to think of the spiritual qualities that make a home.
We knew we had to have a firm foundation. In Paul's message to the Corinthians we read, "Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." I Cor. 3:11. We realized that an understanding of the words and works of Christ Jesus was the spiritual foundation on which we had to build.
Another quality we needed was love, and more than just a verbal expression of it; we needed to reflect in greater measure divine Love's tender power. No home can exist without it.
