Watching what we say
How carelessly the unintended words slipped out of her mouth. And how she wished she could take them back!
Haven't most of us wished we could control our tongues with a greater degree of success? We may make fine resolutions in this direction, but unguarded moments often undo those best of intentions.
There is an answer, a divinely given answer, that not only helps us hold unceasing guard over our words but also gives a healing tone to what we do say. Ideas of divine goodness flow to man from our heavenly Father, infinite Love itself. We have these healing ideas in our hearts, and consequently on our lips, proportionately as we recognize ourselves to be God's perfect reflection, spiritual man. In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy writes, "Man is the expression of God's being." Science and Health, p. 470. That's really the secret of being able to share watchful, loving words—to recognize what man actually is as God's expression.
