My first testimony appeared in a 1957 issue of The Christian Science Journal. Another is long overdue!
My mother began reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy when I was about five years old. Later there was a testing time. A few months before my brother was born, doctors warned that because of complications during past pregnancies, my mother faced danger in having this child. But she wasn't afraid and wished to rely entirely on God through what she had been studying in Christian Science.
The baby arrived without difficulty but seemed unable to keep down his food and as a result was underweight. About this time my mother learned of a Christian Science practitioner in a nearby town. With my father's consent, she asked the practitioner for prayerful help for the baby. Just how successful that help was is borne out by a picture I have of my brother at two years of age—a plump, smiling boy, whose health continued to be good after that.
