I am deeply grateful for having grown up in a home where Christian Science was studied and practiced. Attending a Christian Science Sunday School from an early age and studying the Bible and the inspired writings of Mrs. Eddy provided me with a firm spiritual foundation. Although I did not become a practicing Christian Scientist until I was an adult, the truths I learned as a child have helped and protected me throughout my life.

My dear mother was introduced to this Science when our family moved to a new house and found copies of the Christian Science periodicals that had been left there. My father did not become a Christian Scientist at that time, but he fully supported my mother's desire to depend on God for healing when we children became ill. My mother relied unfailingly on Christian Science, and she encouraged me and my two sisters to do so as we were growing up. Not only were difficulties quickly healed, but the preventive power of divine Truth kept my two sisters and me free from most of the diseases often associated with childhood. Later my father also became a student of this Science, and he gained much good from it.

When I was an adult, my struggles with ill health turned me to a careful study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. At one point severe internal problems became so incapacitating that I found it difficult to care for my home and children. So I called a Christian Science practitioner for prayerful assistance. I can never put into words my gratitude for the loving care and support that were given to me both day and night by the practitioner. She soothed my fears by assuring me that God is good and that no human situation is beyond His control.
