Trust the promise
And there it was again ... the suggestion,
asking supply to be more plentiful,
health to be more healthy,
affection to be more affectionate,
perfection to be more perfect!
Is God conscious of creation's needs?
I've known unceasing Mind to manifest ideas,
felt the uninterrupted energies of Life,
been touched by the boundless tenderness of Love,
seen more of unflawed Spirit reflected in my being.
God's work is done! Still the suggestion demands action.
And then I knew. Christ Jesus gave thanks before
the loaves and fishes multiplied,
before Lazarus stepped forth free and clear,
before his crucifixion and resurrection to human sight.
He taught, "Thine is the kingdom, and the power."
So the suggestion fails ... and fades
in the brilliant glow of gratitude.
Gratitude that requires no prior human evidence.
Pure heartfelt thankfulness that knows
the absolute promise "thou hearest me always" ... is kept!
