I feel blessed to be employed at a school where many of the other teachers are also Christian Scientists, and where my two boys are pupils.
One day when my elder son was in the second grade, he had a severe accident while on the playground. Another child came running into my classroom to notify me. I hurried to the school office and found my son lying on a desk; a concerned and apologetic coach was standing beside him. The coach (who is not a Christian Scientist) explained that Ian had tripped while running and had fallen against a concrete wall. The physical picture was frightening. The boy's face was deeply cut and one eye was badly swollen. The coach recommended that we go at once to the hospital for emergency medical care and stitches.
