The kingdom of heaven concept
Oh the times I have resorted to my heavenly home, have joyfully taken refuge in my native city—the city that "lieth foursquare," Rev. 21:16. the city St. John speaks of!
The second sentence of the Lord's Prayer reads, "Thy kingdom come." Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy explains it: "Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present." Matt. 6:10; Science and Health, p. 16.
An earthly kingdom encompasses all the details of everyday living: traffic patterns, housing, business, industry, schools, courts, laws, libraries, churches, recreation—everything. Christ Jesus often used the word "kingdom" to describe the reign of divine Principle, God, in human consciousness and experience. We learn from him the purifying and regulating effect of bringing ourselves into obedience to the laws of God.
