One day my sister and I were involved in a car accident...
One day my sister and I were involved in a car accident. I was sitting in the passenger side of my car when we were struck from behind by a dump truck. My car was literally lifted into the air and thrown into a shopping mall parking area. I was thrown sideways and almost into the driver's seat. My sister was unharmed.
For a while I wasn't aware of what was going on. Then gradually I heard someone talking, and finally I understood what was being said. My sister, who is a devout Christian Scientist, was declaring, "God is here, and you are all right, and you can get out of the car." She kept assuring me, and I found myself climbing out the driver's side and beginning to walk around. In just a few minutes I saw an ambulance drive up. I was questioned as to whether I was all right, and I assured everyone that I was.
To human sense I was badly shaken up, so once I was home I called for prayerful help from a Christian Science practitioner. The material evidence of severe bruises, headache, whiplash, and shock was challenged through prayer by the practitioner and me. When the claim of whiplash didn't seem to yield, the practitioner encouraged me to fill my thought with gratitude. I did this and realized how grateful I was to God for Mrs. Eddy's discovery, Christian Science, and for my upbringing in a loving family of Christian Scientists. As these thoughts kept me occupied, the pain and discomfort simply faded away.
