Don't take the bait
Walking by a well-known trout stream, I asked a fisherman I saw there if he had had any bites. "No," was his quick reply, and he added, "I have used all my lures and six kinds of bait, but still no bites. These fish can't be fooled."
No one likes to be fooled or misled by decoys. But how can we make sure we are not taken in by the lures and sophisticated bait of temptation?
We can pray to God humbly, as Christ Jesus taught his disciples to pray in a single line of the Lord's Prayer, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil." Matt. 6:13.
