A sculptor was commissioned to create huge lions to go on each side of the entrance of a new public library. The blocks of granite were put into place, and since the sculptor didn't want an audience while he worked, a wooden fence was temporarily erected around the area.
However, there was about an inch-long crack in the fence at waist height through which a young tyke kept up with what was going on inside. When the sculpture was almost finished, the youngster spoke through the fence to the sculptor and asked, "Mister, how'd you know those lions were in that stone?"
