Glory's weight
For our light affliction,
which is but for a moment,
worketh for us a far more exceeding
and eternal weight of glory.
(II Corinthians 4:17)
How much does glory weigh?
For we must bear its weight eternally.
Is it a heavy load
that we must carry down an endless road?
It cannot be;
it is benevolently bestowed
by God, to bear in endless day.
Does light have weight?
Can radiance drag you down?
These are your glory, foot to crown.
And glory's weight is weight that lifts:
"My glory, and the lifter up of mine head,"
the Psalmist said.
So why not set your earthly burdens down,
take up your weight of glory,
God's eternal gift?
Then feel your being glow—and lift!
