Time not of the essence
A familiar concept of eternity is that it is time stretched out forever. But eternity is timeless. The false belief of time needs to be replaced with an understanding of God's spiritual, eternal creation, without beginning or end, in order that the essence of the timeless forever may unfold in our thought and bring harmony and healing to our lives.
Success in spiritualizing our sense of existence requires constant communion with God. This communication, or prayer, involves trusting God with our desires. It includes knowing that man's every need is already supplied by divine Mind and then listening for and obeying Mind's direction.
Traveling the arid mountains, red sand hills, and mulga-covered plains of the Australian outback, one finds the vastness of the desert conducive to expansive thought. Surrounded by silence, beauty, and grandeur, one discovers that the pressures of our time-oriented society seem less demanding, and human consciousness grasps the essence of the spiritual forever more freely. This does not mean that we should become desert recluses, but it does illustrate the need for periods of quiet turning from the clamorings of mortal existence to the omnipotence and allness of Spirit. Even Christ Jesus went into the wilderness on various occasions to pray quietly before proceeding with his work.
