What authority does God have?
A one-of-a-kind authority, the kind that has no opposition!
It is sometimes thought that something with authority has power or jurisdiction over another, opposing entity. But God's authority is unique; there is nothing to oppose Him. In other words, this isn't a situation of God's authority versus evil. It's more than that. The authority of God proves evil to be fictitious. The most valuable thing in the world is understanding God and His authority. The more we adopt and obey His government, the more harmonious our life is. "Step by step will those who trust Him find that 'God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,'" Science and Health, p. 444. writes Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health.
A man was driving along a neighborhood street when another driver broke a traffic law and collided with his car. After both drivers had got out of their damaged cars, the one whose car had caused the accident asserted, "Nobody saw this accident, but I know that you ran into me." (This, of course, was just the opposite of the truth.) "Do you have insurance that can cover the damage to my car?" he asked.
