I am continually grateful to God for leading my mother into the study of Christian Science. As a result, I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, where the love and patient instruction of the teachers gave me a conviction of God's power to heal.

My first awareness of the healing effect of Christian Science occurred when I was about four years old. At that time, my mother was very new to the study of Science and unsure of its efficacy. So when I became ill one day and could not walk without falling to the floor, she took me to a local medical doctor. He diagnosed the illness as chorea and said that it would go away temporarily but would return periodically until I was an adult.

At that point my mother gave up all reliance on medical means and asked a Christian Science practitioner to pray for me. (Although my father did not become a Christian Scientist, he loved this Science and did not oppose my having Christian Science treatment.) The practitioner prayed for me, and I was completely and permanently healed within two weeks.
